Frequently Asked Questions
How long have you been working in media production and video editing?
My real “career” started back in 2017 where some of the video production teams I have been interning at for free (gotta get that experience!) started reaching out for me to do quick, one-off jobs; editing short-form videos, designing pitch-books and storyboards, as well as conducting research and compiling presentations on it. I was a full blown freelancer, which I continued to do on the side of all of my work until 2023.
What’s your strongest skill: pre-production, production, or post-production?
It’s a tie between pre-production and post-production! While my professional experience started with a ton of time at the editing bay, I love sitting at a table with marketers, SMEs, copywriters, and stakeholders to truly get to the meat of a great idea. If I had to pick one to be my forever role, it would be in team-management and pre-production (though I would miss Premiere Pro and color correcting SO much).
What technical tools do you know how to use?
The entire Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, etc.) and Canva! I also know how to use Final Cut Pro, but its been a hot minute. My preferred cameras are Canon cameras, and I am very familiar with KINO Flo lights.
What is your favorite type of content to make?
I LOVE docuseries. Anything where I get to interview a subject, or film the interview taking place, is one of the fundamental reasons I love my job. I am a lifelong learner, and docuseries are hands-down one of the best ways to learn on the job! Producing and editing them is just a huge bonus.
Do you do all this work by yourself?
I have on rare occasions! I’ve been scriptwriter, Director of Photography, Lead Camera, Executive Producer, and Lead Editor for the same project before. Do I like doing that? Eh, not so much - I believe there is a lot of value in having a robust and dedicated team to a creative project. This is why I have so many great contacts of creative professionals and freelancers I can call on when the going gets tough.
